Requires 3 AA batteries: 2 for the clock and 1 for the pendulum. Batteries are not included.
The watch has 3 sound modes : normal tone, low tone or muted.
It's important to note that the cuckoo automatically calls for 16 hours and then is silent for 8 hours. If you want your clock to be silent at night, you must insert the batteries for the first time, keeping in mind that it will be silent after 16 hours and will start calling again 8 hours later. For example, if you set the clock to 7:45 when you insert the batteries, it will call for the next 16 hours at 8:00, 9:00, etc., calling for the last time at 11:00 and remaining silent until 8:00 again.
